Guoren is a professor at the School of Business, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, as well as an adjunct professor at Peking University overseas EMBA program. Before he joined KPU, he taught at Western University and Wilfrid Laurier University. Professor Zhang has been involved in various business projects. His partners include state owned enterprises, investment banks, high-tech startups in several industrial sectors: education, internet of things, merge and acquisition, finance, etc. In 2016, Professor Zhang co-founded a Chinese-Canadian think tank, Grizzly Bear Institute of Canada, with a group of professors from UBC and SFU. GBIC has attracted over 30 professors and entrepreneurs and become a prestigious non-profit organization.
