Better Education for a Better World

Michael Mityok, Principal / Founder

Why VWA

If you need to improve your reading and writing skills under the tutelage of knowledgeable, accomplished and caring mentors, you’ve come to the right place.

Michael has spent 20+ years developing our curriculum alongside our teachers, and yet it remains open, flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of our students. As importantly, it is “open source”, so teachers are always invited to contribute and make their classes reflect their own strengths as humans and educators.

We are small and purposely so because reading and writing instruction is the bedrock of education and requires a nuanced approach that is not possible in a public system with all its huge class sizes and bureaucratic conundrums and “rules” that are for the benefit of the system and not the students. This is who we were from the beginning 20+ years ago and still are today.
